Secretary’s Report:

Cliff Sowka K9QD:  Nominating Committee provided candidate names for November’s election slate during the October Board Meeting.  Also discussed and provided was suggested text for an Advisory Question regarding the club’s funding of food and refreshments at various events; such text was instructed to be included on the DRAFT Ballot.  The Board of Directors never authorized by recorded vote the implementation of this instruction.  Secretary crafted text to comply with BOD’s instruction and then published this Advisory Question along with the membership’s notice of DRAFT Ballot.

Steve Karson AC9EM moved to approve the September Business Meeting Minutes as published in the Radio Hill Gazette.  Daryl Jenks KB9RHR seconded.  Motion Adopted.

Barry K9FMB continues to pursue a proper PayPal identity for us.  It’s possible we’ll suffer a one-month transaction increase until we’re able to create 501c3 status once the official SARC entity is established.

Our Dues Reminder eMail Boilerplate needs to access a corrected Membership look-up table; Roster has to be culled before we trigger a renewal email to the membership.

PayPal also requires a specific eMail account directly to the proper financial authority of SARC.

Public Service:

Rob Glowacki N9MVO reported our next event will likely be the MS WALK in the spring.

EMCOMM:

John Zietlow K9WIC reported no activity is planned in the near future.

Repeaters:

Rob Glowacki N9MVO will confer with a professional antenna installation expert discovered by Roberto Beltramelli WA9E to evaluate our Barrington Road site.  Goal is to determine what actions can be taken to alleviate our sporadic static on windy/wet days.

Default Room assignment for the machine continues to create active discussion because the Board did not make any specific decision based upon our previous opinion survey.  Recent activity logs indicate 2 or 3 active SARC Members utilize the capability on a somewhat regular basis.  Roberto Beltramelli WA9E and Don Froula K9CLF offered several suggestions regarding system default settings, possible N9RJV website posting regarding courteous system use behavior, and some technical solutions to solve the dataline expense challenge.

Construction Project (CP):

Cliff Sowka K9QD announced CP meeting will be held this coming Saturday.  Consumables purchases have been secured at several hamfests.  Connectors, Copper Grounding Plate, Mueller alligator clips, test lead wire, and wire cutter purchase total was $95; successfully within the authorized budget of $150.

Daryl Jenks KB9RHR discussed a Wolf River clone project and offered to canvass CP attendees for fabrication interest.

Don Froula K9CLF presented his self-fabricated UNUN (End-Fed-Zepp) and reviewed performance he’s observed with the final project.  Survey to determine build interest could be indicated.

CP Antenna:  Dennis C. Calvey KD9HIK has been working with the Park District to continue our effort of installing a usable antenna with access in the basement.  We may receive notice of their readiness soon and he is pursuing materials procurement to align with their eventual schedule.

VE Testing:

John Schofield AC9JS reports there are no candidate reservations at the moment.

Dennis C. Calvey KD9HIK provided an update on the newly created FB site.  General Public can view our page and all SARC Members are authorized to post.  There are currently two SARC members who are actively posting to the site with special recognition to Roberto Beltramelli WA9E for his enthusiastic contributions.

Special Events Committee:

Programs:

Don Dewar KD9NJR presented Ham Radio’s potential role within Scouting Jamboree programs.   Plans for the future were discussed with detail.

Old Business:

Don Dewar KD9NJR was authorized by the Board to liaise with the Boy Scouts for the upcoming Jamboree the October.

New Business:

Leo Ribordy N9NBH suggested it may be advantageous to bring our Business Meetings into a tighter agenda and accomplish the various committee reports within about 30 minutes to ease time for more audience participation.

Danny Kafka KD9HIL reminded we’re operating without an annual budget.  Barry Friedman K9FMB reviewed the budget-setting process where committees submit their funding requests to the Board of Directors where they evaluate and finally approve expenditures for the fiscal year.  While the process was undertaken at the beginning of our fiscal year, the Executive Team hasn’t completed the process; item remains open.

Adjourn: 8:15 PM.
