Construction Project (CP)

Cliff Sowka K9QD:  CP returns the fourth Saturday of this month.  We’ve been taking a survey of potential projects and find three (3) members are interested in building Octopus HF Antenna but not achieving enough critical mass at the moment to justify the project yet.

Pierre K9EYE has provided sources for low-cost microcontroller Xcvr projects and we’ll probably be able to determine interest level during the first few CP sessions.

The club has received at substantial SK donation and the initial sorting/cataloging of equipment in underway and stored in the locked cabinets.  The amount of equipment donated is so large that we’ve emptied some storage shelves to accommodate the more valuable items and therefore placed our parts cabinets on the outside momentarily.

Inventory/model/value will require much effort so we’re going to be consuming time to achieve the listing during our first few meetings.  The goal is to offer the equipment to our members via an internal auction with suggested minimum bids probably to begin around 50% of recent eBay closed auctions.

Dennis C. Calvey KD9HIK has received a thankyou letter from Schaumburg EOC management for SARC support Septemberfest and a file copy has been placed on a door of a storage cabinet.

Repeaters

Rob Glowacki N9MVO has been granted a $2,000 initial budget to hire professional antenna diagnostics for the 2M machine.  We’re blessed to have enough funds available to tackle the initial effort and even able to procure a new StationMaster antenna for water tank mounting if needed.

It would be good if we could produce a short video of the 2M Machine installation for display on our website.  Maybe we can record and narrate something when the antenna diagnostics is being performed.

Education:

Leo Ribordy N9NBH reports we will provide a Technician Class for a 10-week run starting January 11, 2025 at the Hoffman Library facility on Hassle road.  Leo will be publishing an Instructor sign-up sheet to garner enough of our teaching members to help educate the expected Ham Radio candidates.

 Public Service

Rob Glowacki N9MVO reported our SeptemberFest support for the Schaumburg Police was appreciated.

 Nominating Committee

Paul Burkett KD9FMN provided an update to the recruitment effort underway and reminded membership it would be good to step forward to participate in club leadership.  There are several Committee assignments open and we’re asking members to volunteer for these important roles.

Social:  John Douglas KD9KSH not present.

Adjourn 7:59

Presentation:  Don Dewar KD9NJR provided a review of the new booklets for Committee Roles and the structures/authority defined in our club’s Constitution and Bylaws.  We have several committee vacancies at the moment and volunteers are needed to fill these important roles.
