Repeaters
Rob Glowacki N9MVO:
Received Towerworks’ estimate to replace our 2M antenna. Several open questions required further clarification:
· Estimate received but need itemized parts/labor
· Insurance coverage requirements
· Prevailing wage compliance
· Permit for Public Works site access (reason to understand prevailing wage question)
· Requesting clarification: StationMaster exact replacement
· Delivery
· Cash deposit, final payment requirements
Rob will contact Towerworks to clarify their proposal and report to Board. We wish to accomplish the project before inclement weather sets-in for the season.
Education:
Leo Ribordy N9NBH previously reported he has obtained required instructors for our training sessions. The 10-week run starts January 11, 2025 at the Hoffman Library facility on Hassle road.
Public Service
Rob Glowacki N9MVO no report.
Publicity
Dennis C. Calvey KD9HIK reports our current student reservation for Technician Class is seven (7) and we still have additional classroom space. Our class offering has been additionally announced via ARRL and Facebook.
Regarding meeting room assignment at CRC: Dennis will let Park District know we’re in need of a room with a monitor to allow us to enable ZOOM attendees.
Social
John Douglas KD9KSH reminded our Holiday Party is set with sixteen (16) confirmations at the moment.
Reservation cut-off date will be January 13th to allow sufficient time for ordering food.
Saturday Jan 18th, 2025
Pollyanna Brewing and Distilling
245 E. Main Street
Roselle, IL 60172
847-285-1909
The location has provided us with a free room which is located outside but is heated and enclosed so no worries about the weather. The SARC BOD has agreed to supply us with great pizza for dinner and you will be responsible for purchasing your own drinks. Pollyanna serves beer, wine, various cocktails and soft drinks. I will post the drink menu prior to the party as Pollyanna changes the offerings as new items become available. If you do not like Pizza, feel free to bring your own food at your expense.
New Business
Steve Karson AC9EM informed some members are not receiving SARC-ALL traffic if they are using ARRL server; appears to be buggy/unable to pass Google Groups traffic at times.
John Zietlow K9WIC indicated our current organization is illegitimate and group tonight advised to move discussion to the January Board Meeting. ZOOM audio tonight was almost unusable.
Howard Mitchell KD9WSV informed the remaining SK Auction items will be listed again in January.
Pierre K9EYE explained there is a SYSOP page in ECHOLINK where switches can be enabled to mask connect/disconnect preamble/post amble; will improve overhead burden for remote attendees. Exclusion of international attendees can also be accomplished.
