Welcome to the Hobby!
Amateur radio is communication, experimentation, public service, friendship, and fun — all rolled into one hobby.2 Whether you are a newly licensed ham, a returning operator, or simply curious about what “ham radio” is all about, the Schaumburg Amateur Radio Club is a great place to get started.
Our members get on the air, build and test equipment, support public service events, explore new operating modes, help new hams, and share practical knowledge with one another.3 You do not need to know everything before you visit. Bring your questions, your curiosity, and your interest in radio — we will help you find your next step.
Ready to get involved?
New to Amateur Radio? You’re in the Right Place.
Ham radio can take you in many directions. Some operators enjoy local conversations on repeaters. Others make contacts around the world, build antennas, use digital modes, participate in contests, help with emergency communications, track satellites, or experiment with electronics and radio technology.

Visitors are always welcome at our monthly club meetings. You do not need to be a member, and you do not need to already have an amateur radio license.7
Come meet the club, hear what we are working on, ask questions, and learn more about the hobby. Monthly programs often include presentations, demonstrations, technical topics, operating ideas, equipment show-and-tell, and club activity updates.

Get On the Air. Get Involved. Get Connected.
Amateur radio is more fun when you have people to share it with. SARC gives you a local community where you can learn, operate, volunteer, and keep discovering new parts of the hobby.
Whether your goal is to make your first contact, improve your station, serve the community, prepare for emergencies, explore new technology, or just enjoy good radio conversation, there is a place for you here.
Welcome to the hobby.
Welcome to SARC.
