Barry K9FMB explained options available to us in replacing the canceled PayPal relationship.  It is possible Zelle could be invoked since major banking institutions have been long-capable of handling these transactions.  Since a dedicated eMail account is required with Zelle and since our Treasurer duties can change personnel over time, there needs to be an alternative and flexible address accessible to new officers.  The actual mechanics of such a move isn’t clear at the moment.

Barry reminded our ARRL Insurance needs to be renewed in January and the $300 annual  expense is unchanged from last year.

Repeaters

No action taken on the Barrington Road 2M antenna evaluation.  Our monthly copper pipe service fee will increase from $63 (teaser rate ends) to $160.

Construction Project (CP)

Cliff Sowka K9QD announced CP will be canceled for the fourth Saturday of December since it aligns with Christmas Eve morning.  Cliff contacted our webmaster to delete the event from our website’s calendar.

• Upcoming General Class Sessions at Hoffman Estates Branch Library published on SARC Facebook page, SARC RHG and sarc-all broadcast.
• Problems listing class on ARRL website.  Will keep trying.
• Class information submitted to the Daily Herald for publication.  Awaiting confirmation.
• Roof top antenna project at Tennis Plus Club still on hold until the Schaumburg Park District (SPD) accepts completion of the current rooftop HVAC upgrade project.  SPD confirmed that they will provide labor to assist in installation when rooftop work is completed.
• We may have to order Dacron rope and possible pulleys for the HF Antenna long wire.  Waiting to confirm where we may install the antenna before ordering.  Overall project cost with possible additional cost for Dacron rope and pulleys is still below budgeted cost.

Social  

John Douglas KD9KSH has contracted with Lucky Monk for January’s Holiday Party on Saturday 21^st at 6PM.  SARC approved $300 to have complimentary appetizers served.

The restaurant plans to have four (4) entrée choices for us to choose.  SARC-ALL announcement with invitation/RSVP will be published.

John reminded we will need a new Social Chair for 2023.

Ending our relationship with PayPal necessitates the establishment of a new payment service.

Treasurer will work with our Webmaster to determine what requirements have to be accommodated to comply with the new banking relationship.

Treasurer access to our BMO Harris account will need updating and Barry will work with Chris Brewer AC9GN and Don Dewar KD9NJR to schedule the session with BMO Harris.

Cliff Sowka K9QD said the Attenuator Project deadline was tonight with 17 club members ordering kits.  John KC9ON will include 9V batteries and will allow a little more discount due to our increased order size.  Treasurer not present tonight so K9QD will cut his personal check to KC9ON and anticipate reimbursement in January as members reimburse his expense.  Final cost per kit will be known by the end of December once shipment accomplished.

John Douglas KD9KSH reported our Holiday Party has been set for January 21^st.  SARC Board of Directors approved a $300 budget for complimentary appetizers for the event.  This event replaces the traditional January Business Meeting and will include announcement of two honorary award winners who were selected during the Annual Meeting in November:  1. Member of the Year & Honorary Bill Smead K9IIM 2. Construction Project Award.

Leo Ribordy N9NBH reported that eight (8) students have already reserved his General Class in January. The Library has 20-person capacity for the classroom.

Rob Glowacki N9MVO informed MS Walk is set for May 7^th which is the same date as the ChicagoLand Marathon:  A Chairperson is needed to communicate with the Schaumburg EMCOMM management as well as organize SARC’s staffing for the ChicagoLand Marathon as this is an important event for the village.

Rob Glowacki N9MVO reports our machines are working properly.  There will be an effort to increase the 20W output of the 440 machine to 100W with the utilization of the spare linear.  The team has already purchased spare memory to duplicate the current system but the back-up process may take several hours.  NAND FLASH frailty is a known weakness and we need to have spare operating system copies of Kent Ochs’ W9KAO coding work.

Construction Project (CP): 

Cliff Sowka K9QD said attendance was sparse (about 10) during the most recent meeting.  We’re typically greeted with upwards of 20 and as high as 40 so hopefully the currently low attendance is just an anomaly.  Dennis C. Calvey KD9HIK reported our coax to the roof has been pulled but we’re not aware of any arrangements to complete the installation on the roof at the moment.

Don Dewar KD9NJR demonstrated a compressive go-box he has assembled, described the equipment’s capability, and provided attendees with cheat-sheets for local machines and band assignments.

Old Business:

Bob Langsfeld WB9TZC noted our website displays outdated information concerning the Salvation Army information.  He will work with our Webmaster to update.

New Business: 

Don Dewar KD9NJRd noticed our By-Laws require any Director to be a member of the original 1976 club formation; an obvious item that needs updating.

Our Net Script (N9RJV web-site’s guide for controllers) needs updating. Dennis C. Calvey KD9HIK will work with our Webmaster to adjust the verbiage.  Dennis also discussed NetLogger software and described the benefits of standardization on using the tool within the club.  There are some hams who are concerned their home address is easily disclosed but the FCC requires that information to be easily obtained anyway.  Additionally, membership authorization with QRZ ($35 annually) is required to use the software.

NOTE: after adjournment and at the end of the subsequent Presentation session, several Virtual Attendees expressed their gratitude that Don KD9NJR was able to utilize his ZOOM account tonight but were troubled with the 40-minute connection limit.  Pierre Berube K9EYE moved to have SARC purchase a ZOOM account and Steve Karson AC9EM seconded.  Since the meeting was no longer in session, their idea will be discussed at the March Board of Director’s Meeting.
